COVID-19 RAPID Triple Antibody Test London – £59

Smile Cliniq and Med Cliniq are pleased to offer COVID-19 antibody testing to our patients. Our Triple Antibody Rapid Test (IgG IgA & IgM) is CE marked and gives results within 10-15 minutes.

This is the only UK developed and manufactured test currently available and registered with the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency). For more information please click here.

Take our triple  COVID antibody test today.  You can now find out if you recently had coronavirus (COVID-19) or have been previously exposed to the virus.

A simple finger prick blood test taken by our clinician will give you a result in as little as 10 -15 minutes.

Please note that COVID-19 is a new virus and it is not yet proven that the presence of antibodies provides immunity to COVID-19 or for how long any protective immunity may last.

Regular repeat antibody testing allows a base-line to be established and to monitor any changes over time.

To keep our patient safe, we recommend patients PocDoc – An innovative app that provides support to users to keep in track of their COVID results.  The app will support users to perform their tests and, importantly, to understand what their result means. It also means the data can help to track the spread of COVID-19 through our communities and the prevalence of antibodies across the UK which will play a critical role in developing our understanding in the fight against COVID-19 going forward. At the moment there is no baseline set, so the quicker we can understand the landscape, the more we will be able to prepare for the usual winter cold and flu season.

https://youtu.be/vg295n8qjTs

It is optional whether people who use BioSURE tests want to use the app but BioSURE and PocDoc are encouraging everyone to do so to accelerate our learning around the pandemic.

All data will be used in an anonymised and aggregated format and is being held on a secure platform for a one month period.

The app can also track repeat testing which is likely to be of huge benefit with the up and coming cold and flu season, so people really will be able to know if they have suffered a COVID-19 infection or a different virus.

We also encourage patients to allow uploading of their data in the event of a positive IgM and IgA test to Public Health England, this will allow them to better control outbreaks with track and trace.

How does the POC DOC app work?

Included with each BioSURE COVID-19 Antibody Self Test is a card with a unique QR code. After receiving their test, users and testers can download the app from the Google Play store & Apple App store.

The app will ask for some limited personal information (year of birth, gender and partial postcode) and then some questions about symptoms and when they were experienced which will help the understanding of the virus and how it affects different individuals.

You do not need to enter any contact information, financial information, or create an account to use the app.

After completing your BioSURE COVID-19 Antibody Test, your unique QR code will be scanned, which tracks the batch number and expiry of your test and input the result of your test.

How does our coronavirus antibody testing service work?

Step 1 – We take a small blood sample from you with minimal discomfort (finger prick blood collection)

Step 2 – Sample is tested with a buffer agent to successfully find out whether you have or had COVID 19

Step3 – PocDoc to keep in track of your health and the virus

Why should I book a coronavirus (COVID-19) triple antibody test with Smile Cliniq & Med Cliniq?

  • The only UK developed and manufactured test currently available
  • CE marked meaning it has met the EU safety, health or environmental requirements
  • One transparent price includes the test
  • Three Antibodies tests (IgG, IgM & IgA, the latter are acute antibodies)

Are these Rapid Antibody Tests Accurate?

Antibody assays are much faster and cheaper than the gold-standard tests that detect viral RNA using a technique called the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Biosure quotes sensitivity was 98.5% (197/200, 95% CI: 95.7- 99.7%).  Specificity: 99.2% (598/603 Cl: 98.1%-99.7%) please see here for  more details. The Antibody tests are NOT as sensitive as the antigen PCR versions, which can pick up minuscule amounts of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.  Please see here for more details.

This difference raises some concerns among specialists, who worry that antibody tests will miss infectious people and result in outbreaks in countries that have largely controlled coronavirus transmission.  Although the PCR method can test whether someone is infectious, it also detects people who have the virus but are not likely to spread it.  Antibody testing will help to rapidly identify people who are at lower risk of spreading the virus to others, as well as identify patients that are acutely infective and as such should self isolate.  As we do not have to wait two days for results, it allows people who are infective to self isolate much faster.  We emphasise that this does not replace the safety measures that the UK government have advised.

Given the affordability and speedy nature of the test, without the need for laboratory time & resources we believe antibody testing will be an increasingly vital part of tracking the pandemic and alerting patients if they a) have been infected (IgG positive) b) are acutely infective (IgM & IgA positive) c) have antibodies or d) not infected (and if not getting the country back to work & their families).

What happens if I am IgG positive but negative for IgA & IgM?

IgG positive Antibody means you have had the virus in the past. If you do not have active symptoms and are well then it is unlikely that you are infectious. Nevertheless, hygiene, social distancing and protective measures still apply.

What happens if I am IgG negative but positive for IgA & IgM?

If you are symptomatic then you would be advised to get a PCR swab test done. You would be able to do this via the NHS testing pathway or pay for it privately.

You would be advised to self-isolate for until the results return which is usually 48 hours from when the test is taken. If you have a positive test, then you would need to self-isolate for a minimum of 10 days.  Please see current government guidelines here.

If you do not have symptoms, you would still be advised to have the PCR Test done privately. If you choose not to, you can self-isolate for 10 days.

If you feel that you have had COVID-19 symptoms within three months of this test, then you may be offered a venous blood test to check for antibodies. If you have not had any symptoms, then it is highly likely that you have not had exposure to the virus, or your antibodies are no longer detectable by the test.

COVID-19 What we know so far:

  1.   COVID 19 is a highly infectious disease
  2.   It can lead to death in some people
  3.   Up to 1 in 3 cases have not fully recovered for several weeks after the illness
  4.   NHS Tests are currently only available if you satisfy certain criteria
  5.   Current research suggests that antibodies can fade away after three months. We do not fully know how this translates to immunity
  6.   Early research shows that there is a need to do antibody tests to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic
  7.   Currently there are antigen tests available that look for particles of the virus in the nose and throat. These tell a person whether they are infected with the virus. However, there are reports that these tests can remain positive for weeks after the symptoms have passed.
  8.   The finger prick test offers a quick and easy method to evaluate whether a person has developed antibodies to the virus.  This can be performed in individuals who have had symptoms and for those who have never had symptoms.
  9. By offering it in a drive through environment, we can ensure safety of patients and staff.

We believe that by offering this triple antibody test, we can:

  1.   Tell you if you are likely to have antibodies
  2.   Help you track your antibody levels should you have them and choose to do so
  3.   Help find cases that have had the virus but never knew they had it

We also offer PCR swab tests for patients displaying symptoms and for those you want to know whether they have viral particles in their nose or mouth. This can be used for pre flight screening and for those individuals who would like reassurance before meeting their loved ones.

By doing this test early, you will know whether you have developed antibodies and how long you have kept them.
