Dr Najla Nizarali

Dr Najla Nizarali is a Consultant in Special Care Dentistry and has been a full-time member of the Department of Sedation and Special Care Dentistry at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust since 2007.

She has extensive experience in the management of anxious and phobic patients, providing care using both basic and advanced conscious sedation techniques in both general practice and hospital settings. Known for her gentle approach, Dr Nizarali is highly skilled at putting patients at ease and delivering care in a calm, reassuring manner. Her clinical interests include conscious sedation and the dental management of patients with haematological disorders, complex medical conditions, and disabilities.

Dr Nizarali is the Course Organiser for the undergraduate Sedation and Special Care Dentistry programme and clinically supervises undergraduate and MSc postgraduate students. She is actively involved in research within sedation and special care dentistry and supervises postgraduate research projects.

She is a long-standing member of the teaching faculty for the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD) and has lectured for SAAD for over 10 years. She also delivers postgraduate training in basic and advanced conscious sedation for dentists and dental care professionals.
